Questions and answers

The most common questions about ventilation cleaning. If you can’t find an answer, give us a call — we’re happy to talk it through.

How often should ventilation be cleaned?

For homes, a common rule of thumb is to clean the ducts roughly every 5–10 years (depending on their condition), service a heat recovery unit once a year and replace the filters at least twice a year. Check your unit’s manual for exact intervals.

If you notice dust around the valves, weak extraction, damp or lingering odours, don’t wait. Commercial premises and spaces with heavier use usually need cleaning more often.

Does cleaning make a mess?

We cover furniture and floors and tidy up after ourselves when we’re done.

What do I need to do before the cleaning?

Clear access to the air valves and the ventilation unit: move furniture and belongings out of the way. Let us know if the unit or ducts are in a cupboard, in the attic or behind a suspended ceiling.

Do you clean heat recovery units too?

Yes. We clean the fans, heat exchanger and condensate drain, and replace the filters — we bring them for any unit model. More: heat recovery unit service.

Does the apartment association need to approve the cleaning?

You usually don’t need the association’s permission to clean your own apartment’s valves, ducts and unit. The building’s shared shafts and roof fans are managed by the association, and their cleaning is agreed with it.

Why clean the ventilation after renovation?

Renovation creates a lot of fine construction dust, which gets drawn into the ventilation. It settles in the ducts, filters and unit, and can later find its way back indoors.

Does the cooker hood duct need cleaning too?

Yes. Grease builds up in the cooker hood duct; it traps dust and is a fire hazard. Wash the grease filter regularly, and have the duct cleaned when extraction weakens or you can see a layer of grease behind the filter.

How is the price calculated?

We calculate the price for each property separately: it depends on the type of ventilation, the number of valves and ducts, access and the amount of work. Send a request and we’ll tell you the price before we start. More on the price page.

Can you come in the evening or at the weekend?

Yes. We also work evenings and weekends — in apartments, houses and commercial premises.

Do I get a document for the work done?

Yes. After the job we give you a certificate of completed work and an invoice.
